With the onset of COVID-19, students all over the world now have decreased access and opportunities to participate in exciting educational events such as in-person hackathons, contests, and more.
We wanted to make sure that our students still had every opportunity to create and be innovative in a contest setting, so we decided to take matters into our own hands.
With that, we will be launching Dexter’s first-ever online maker contest!
The Dexter Maker Contest will give students the chance to exercise their creativity, their knowledge, and their skills. We originally created this contest with Dexter students in mind, but in staying true to our mission of making education accessible to everyone, we will be opening this contest to all students around the world who are under the age of 16.
For this contest, students will have three weeks to work on a special prompt that will be announced during our launch event.
The prompt will be broad enough for students of all disciplines to participate. This includes anything from creating a coding project, designing a piece of art, putting together a creative writing piece, and more!
To ensure that students only use the three weeks that we have allotted to the competition, we will not be revealing the contest prompt until our launch event on September 26th.
However, we CAN tell you this…it’s going to be out of this world!
